Addressing Mental Health issues and accessing treatment continues to be a challenge for many people. The stigma around Mental Illness prevents people from getting the care they need. Sadly, this is even more challenging for minority populations and people of color. Members of minority groups oftentimes are less likely to seek help for mental illness or even label the struggle they are dealing with as a mental health issue. “Strength Over Silence” is NAMI’s ongoing docuseries about overcoming the stigma of mental illness. In the latest video, Chris Hubbard an NFL offensive tackle for the Cleveland Browns shares his story with youth from his hometown in Columbus, GA, and talks about overcoming the stigma of seeking help, particularly for young men of color.
